RIW : Ciao Markus , quanti anni hai e da quanto tempo vai in windsurf?
M.R. : Ciao RIW! Ho 23 anni e vado in windsurf dal 2004 , quindi adesso sono alla mia 10ma stagione.
RIW : Da quanto tempo sei diventato professionista e da quanto tempo siete stati nel Team Simmer ?
M.R. : Questo è il mio primo anno nella squadra Simmer International e sono supercontento di farne parte!
RIW : Che cosa il windsurf rappresenta davvero per te? Al momento riesci a vivere solo di windsurf?
M.R. : Il windsurf è la mia più grande passione nella vita. Tutto quello che faccio ruota intorno a questo sport. Oggi è davvero difficile vivere solo di windsurf. Quindi, anche se ho sponsors, devo lavorare tra i viaggi e le gare. Il mio obiettivo è un giorno essere un windsurfer professionista a tempo pieno.
RIW : Quali sono i tuoi ruoli effettivi nel team Simmer?
M.R. : Dal momento che sono l’ultimo arrivato nella squadra non credo di avere ancora un vero e proprio ruolo. Direi che io sono il rookie di quest’anno e troverò il mio posto all’interno del team lungo la strada.
RIW : Qual è il tuo sogno? Che cosa hai intenzione di fare nella tua vita?
M.R. : Il mio più grande sogno è quello di essere a tempo pieno un professionista rispettato e che possa ispirare gli altri. Voglio raggiungere una posizione nella classifica mondiale la più alta possibile, sviluppare la mia piattaforma video e andare in giro per il mondo a fare un sacco di “crazy” windsurf.
RIW : Quali sono i tuoi home spots? Quali sono le loro condizioni?
M.R.: Il mio homespot, dove sono cresciuto e tuttora vivo tra tutti i viaggi, si chiama Läjet, in Svezia. E’ un posto super divertente con la maggior parte delle condizioni mure a dritta side-onshore. È buono per saltare, ma è molto freddo nella maggior parte dell’anno quindi bisogna essere un vichingo per navigare lì! ;-)
RIW : In questi giorni sei a Maui per il photoshooting della stagione Simmer 2015. E’ la prima volta per te? Come stai vivendo questa esperienza?
M.R. : E’ il mio primo servizio fotografico Simmer, ma la mia quarta volta a Maui. Mi piace Maui, è probabilmente l’isola più bella del mondo. Per questo torno qui ogni anno. Il servizio fotografico è eccezionale, mi piace ogni secondo di questa esperienza. Sto anche imparando molto dagli altri riders esperti.
RIW : Che cosa puoi dire dell’attrezzatura Simmer 2015? Sappiamo che finora è ancora tutto abbastanza segreto, ma puoi semplicemente darci qualche piccola anticipazione?
M.R. : Senza svelare troppo posso dirvi che l’attrezzatura Simmer 2015 e’ incredibile! Tenetevi pronti per il 2015, sara’ esagerata!

Windsurfing Champs of today are already known quite well. But why not to discover today the stars of tomorrow? RIWmag interviewed Markus Rydberg, Swedish, new promise of Simmer Style team. His first pro photoshoot in Maui, his projects and his dreams …
RIW : Hi Markus, how old are you and how long have you been windsurfing?
M.R. : Hi RIW! I’m 23 years old and have been windsurfing since 2004, so I am on my 10th season now.
RIW : How long have you become professional and how long have you been in the Simmer Team?
M.R. : This is my first year on the Simmer International Team and I am super stoked being a part of it!
RIW : What does windsurfing actually represent for you? Are you now gaining your life just by windsurfing?
M.R. : Windsurfing is my greatest passion in life. Everything I do revolves around the sport. Today it’s really hard to live solely of windsurfing. So even though I have sponsors I have to work in-between trips and competitions. My goal is to one day be a full time professional windsurfer.
RIW : What are your actual roles in the Simmer Team?
M.R. : Since I’m the newest addition to the team I don’t think I have put myself in a certain role yet. I’d say that I’m the rookie this year and I will find my place within the team along the way.
RIW : What’s your dream? What are you going to do in your life?
M.R. : My biggest dream is to be a full time, respected and inspiring pro. I want to reach a high world ranking, develop my video making platform and go around the world to do a lot of crazy windsurfing.
RIW : Which are your home spots? How are the conditions there?
M.R. : My homespot, where I grew up and still live between all the traveling, is called Läjet in Sweden. It’s a super fun spot with mostly side-onshore starboard tack conditions. It’s good for jumping, but it’s very cold most time of the year so you have to be a viking to sail there! 😉
RIW : In these days you are at Maui for the seasonal Simmer 2015 photoshooting. Is it the first time for you? How are you living this experience?
M.R. : It’s my first Simmer photoshoot but my fourth time on Maui. I love Maui, it’s probably the most beautiful island in the world – which is why I come back every year. The photoshoot is awesome, I enjoy every second of it. I am also learning a lot from the other experienced riders.
RIW : What about the Simmer 2015 gear? We know that so far it is still quite secret but may you just give us some little preview?
M.R. : Without giving away too much I can tell you that they are awesome! Be prepared for the 2015 release, it’s gonna be sick!
